Beginning February 15th thru April 30th 2009, the Virginia Department of Forestry (DOF) will issue a statewide burn ban.  The burn ban permits open air fires between the hours of 4pm and midnight only.  After midnight, the fire is not allowed to have additional kindling added to the fire.  When anyone wishes to burn between the scheduled hours, it is greatly appreciated for individuals to call Bedford County Communications at (540) 586-7827.  This will prevent the fire department from being dispatched to control burns.  For further information visit the DOF website below.  http://www.dof.virginia.gov/index.shtml
